my family

This Friday, my father is in icu for two month my father was in ICU because he smoke very much and the smoke called Gudang garam. My father was lonely in the hospital.
That's why my father always smoke everyday my father can smoke one day two times another day 2 times.
My father love to smoke very much. When he was in hospital he don't love to eat but he love to drink apple juice.

-Aziz, (not his real name)8 years old, when asked to write about his family.

why men do this to their children, i have no idea. honestly, negative energy is just passed on from person to person, can't anyone see that? a boss yells at a man, the man goes home and hits his son, his son goes to school and picks on his classmates, his classmates get depressed and do badly in class...it's a simple fact of life.
i wonder if negative energy were visible, how many of us would be tainted with its mark? how many of us who have played a part in protracting its works?
it's a real world we live in, yes... but that's why God is here - He makes life so much simpler...
but still, it saddens me when sometimes children suffer the brunt of pent-up anger... children - on whose small shoulders the rest of humanity depend upon.

i love aaron pan

charlie and the chocolate factory was aammmmmmmmmmmaaazzzzzzzzzzzziing!!! despite that overhang, straight yellow teeth, weird hair, pale complexion and high-pitched "WOW"'S, my dear johnny, you still oooozed the sex appeal... and someone tell me where i can get me one of em oompa-loompa's... they're amazing... but then, why do i need another minion when i have my pancake? heeeeeeee... anyways, check it out at the official site! definitely a must-watch, cos it's never too late to be a kid again! next conquest : jungle book! who has the dvd, lend it to me please!!! my mom has it on LD (hell, she may even have 2 copies) but she's kept it sooo well that she can't even find it now... mothers eh? maybe it's got to do with the whole hunter-gatherer theory of men and women.. are all women closet kleptomaniacs? discuss...

meanwhile, i'm missing my pancake... :(

can't remember what this place was called.. but i just remember it being a friggin' sunny day in london. so sunny i was tanning my toes while my pancake was getting a drink. don't we look so good together?? and all the people said, "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" i can't wait till you get your ass down here come september the 9th!!! yipppeeeeeeeeeeeee! we'll paint the town RED.

relief teaching today was, for the first time, at boon lay gardens primary school. pri 2 kids! they're the cutest! there was this malay girl who was sooo pretty, with the most biggest black eyes and the coolest hair! her parents sell nasi-something at the nearby hawker center. she didn't have enough money for reccess, but she was hungry, so i bought her a packet of milo and let her drink it in class. aren't i a cool teacher? anyway, the first thing she did when i entered the classroom was give me this card with the words "to my greatest teacher" on it.

me: why did you give me this?
malay girl: it's for you.
me: (confused) but why?
malay girl: i bought a lot for teacher's day.

hahaha. a very endearing case of when it's the thought that counts! she's officially my favourite student of allll! at the end of the day, she was even quite sad when i told her i might not be taking her class the next day and and and! she even threatened her classmate who said he didn't like me. standing up for me??!!! my heroin!!

and then there was this cute wee chinese-malay girl who was plumb and with newly-acquired adult 2 front teeth who was so bent on going to the water cooler... she made me smile at her persistence.

chinese-malay girl: teacher, can i go to the water cooler please?
me: (pointing to her blue water bottle that was 25% full)but your water bottle still has water in it! no! sit down!
1 minute later, she returns with an empty water bottle and a wet mouth...
chinese-malay girl: ok, i finish aredi! can i go to the water cooler now please?

seriously take my hats off to teachers.... never experienced the feeling of loving and hating the same kids, and wanting to scold and laugh at them at the same time... hahaha.. kids.

anyways, it's official! the girlies and i are going to hk this december!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just recalled that we've been to sarawak together on that geography trip and it was sooooooooo fun! well, hongkong will be 10 times that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but hong kong excitement will have to wait, cos i'll be to hainan dao this weekend with my fummylee! i'll be leaving on the 27th and back on the 1st! but i'll still be contactible on my mobile. haha. half expecting to see female kleptomaniacs ruling over their husbands, lots of kampung chicken chased by village boys, lots of sandy shores and palm trees and all the time in the world to reeeeellllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaxxxx....

Monday, August 22

as i walked out one evening.

in gotham penthouse. along clarke quay.me.jin.may.denyse.kunies.

it's been such an eventful week... so many people to see, so much conversation made, so many things said, so much joy shared and yet so little of it retained in the mind's memory... how much of all we're experiencing in the fleeting moment do we truly retain? i wonder if we'll have the memory of our eternities in heaven? (see poem)

God is so good, You've driven me to tears so many times this week, and this is just the beginning. Sometimes i just want to stop and worship you for an eternity, for a forever, to stand in your awesome presence and to forget myself, to let You be me... God is good, all the time, all the time, God is good. Amen!

Been watching lots of foreign films these past few days, thanks to william's generous loan of what must have been more than 23, 351, 231, 724 dvds... when i go to china this weekend, i'm gonna get me my own collection! 80c i piece, i heard! foreign films are ace. a breath of fresh air amidst the usual hackneyed hollywood productions that we usually get. this foreign film frenzy has also led to the discovery of yet another film that is ranked as one of 'carol's favourite films of all time'... *standing ovation* also watched 'napola' in the cinema, which was one heck of a good film... hail foreign films!

went for sarah's american lit class on thursday, and it was soo very interesting! ooh, i love literature.. after which i started on a bit of medicine revision in the nus med library! i absolutely looove that library. it's got like EVERYTHING.... how very unlike the glasgow med library where there's such a limited range of medical books, where you can't get titles such as 'vertigo' or 'eye movements in sleep', but you can find like 20 copies of the 5th edition of kumar and clark... plus it's got this old rustic charm to it, which is soo very conducive for studying! (ok, so i'm a nerd, but i'm sure you already knew that...)

also managed to have 'semi-lunch' with jin jin and tony for a wee while! hee. jin jin, if you're reading this, you guys look really compatible, i just realised! ;)

also went for the nus sports bash, aka 'spash' at gotham penthouse to support chia!! woo hoo.. took tons of photos as usual! heh. but honestly, clubbing is sooo not my thing anymore...or maybe it's just cos the music sucked soo bad. think i'm getting to be quite a fuddy-duddy.. crap.. where's all that energy gone?

what else have i been up to? oh yes, hsbc treetop walk with mommy and daddy! which was something out of the ordinary. took about 2 hours to trek there and back and got caught in the tropical rain the in the tropical rain forest on the way back. arghs. bet you guys didn't know that singapore's home to the largest ant species.. those things are like 1.5-2cm long... only managed to see one of those little buggers..and i managed to hold back the urge to step on it. and the first monkey we saw was the one strolling on the zinc roof of the ranger's station..ironic eh?

played tennis again with lester and cj on saturday! yay!!! i lurrrvvveee tennis! was absolutely knackered after that cos it was right after the 2 hour trek.. and i'm all ache-y now.

and then on sunday, it was church, church and then dinner at ivanna's place with the goh family, minus ivanna + sarah! yay!!!

going out for charlie and the chocolate factory with jun later, but not before dinner with the girlies (minus priscilla)!!

dear dear johnny, it's been too too long...
meanwhile, i shall leave you with this poem that captures some of my thoughts on time...which to me, is such an elusive thing. it exists and yet it is immutable, amoral, forever forward and yet perfectly constant...we live by it and are ruled by it, in a way. i dunno... i guess in heaven with God, we will all be standing outside time, since we'll be there for an eternity and since God exists in more than 4 dimensions...
but in the meanwhile, man-to-man, this is all we have:

As I Walked Out One Evening by W. H. Auden

As I walked out one evening,
Walking down Bristol Street,
The crowds upon the pavement
Were fields of harvest wheat.

And down by the brimming river
I heard a lover sing
Under an arch of the railway:
“Love has no ending.

“I’ll love you, dear, I’ll love you
Till China and Africa meet,
And the river jumps over the mountain
And the salmon sing in the street,

“I’ll love you till the ocean
Is folded and hung up to dry
And the seven stars go squawking
Like geese about the sky.

“The years shall run like rabbits,
For in my arms I hold
The Flower of the Ages,
And the first love of the world.”

But all the clocks in the city
Began to whirr and chime:
“O let not Time deceive you,
You cannot conquer Time.

“In the burrows of the Nightmare
Where Justice naked is,
Time watches from the shadow
And coughs when you would kiss.

“In headaches and in worry
Vaguely life leaks away,
And Time will have his fancy
To-morrow or to-day.

“Into many a green valley
Drifts the appalling snow;
Time breaks the threaded dances
And the diver’s brilliant bow.

“O plunge your hands in water,
Plunge them in up to the wrist;
Stare, stare in the basin
And wonder what you’ve missed.

“The glacier knocks in the cupboard,
The desert sighs in the bed,
And the crack in the tea-cup opens
A lane to the land of the dead.

“Where the beggars raffle the banknotes
And the Giant is enchanting to Jack,
And the Lily-white Boy is a Roarer,
And Jill goes down on her back.

“O look, look in the mirror?
O look in your distress:
Life remains a blessing
Although you cannot bless.

“O stand, stand at the window
As the tears scald and start;
You shall love your crooked neighbour
With your crooked heart.”

It was late, late in the evening,
The lovers they were gone;
The clocks had ceased their chiming,
And the deep river ran on.

lucy in the sky with diamonds

from rahul's blog, dated july 8:

'...carol and william, the original ‘other guests’ were notable absentees, considering that the point of meeting up today was to go over to carol’s place to check out the medical paraphernalia there. mind you this is no ordinary medical stuff she has.this is what she told us last summer: apparently some acquaintance of her gave her one of those skeletons that doctors have in their offices (or at least, like how they do in the movies) and it was a real skeleton, made from the bones of a real dead person. now this is already very dodgy - a stranger giving you a real skeleton for free. however, carol did not see anything to be amiss and claimed the skeleton, which (till today) resides unassembled, in a box. oddly, the acquaintance told her not to sell it for anything less than 300 dollars. it’s all so very strange. anyway, the box is under her study table at home, something which william, raphael and i are absolutely unable to understand how she can continue to disregard. it’s like having someone buried in your living room, really.'

so, the much awaited meeting took place today at my place... william, raphael and rahul arrived in the blistering hot afternoon sun (they probably only had enough guts to do it in broad daylight).. after watching 'the man who cried' on dvd... (which was abyssmal, although for johnny depp, it was worth it...)we headed downstairs to my computer room to dig lucy up...

they were still really skeptical about the whole 'acquaintance' motive so they googled my friend's name!!! googled, can u imagine that? and even googled for a photo of him! they're such clowns...so when we found him to be the author of several medical journal papers ( m's a doctor), i was mighty pleased! we've not been in contact for quite a while, even though we're both in the uk.. but judging from the amount of research he's been churning out, m seems to be doing well....
so our attention was once again turned back to lucy in the box (gift-wrapped for easy custom clearance, m had said...)so after feeling, fondling, mocking and phographing dear ol lucy, they assembled her on my floor and started fooling around with her. hahah.. as for me, i was just plain amused they could be so tickled by a skeleton:

william : and this is the humerus!
rahul : stop trying to be funny la, william!
.
.
rahul : man.. lucy you have serious dental problems.
.
.
william : so shall we say a little prayer for lucy?
rahul : yes... dear lucy, may you rest in peace..
me : ces...
.
.
(while assembling lucy)
rahul : oh yes, i have to take a photo of this.
william : wait, have some ribs...
rahul : what, you think tony roma's ah?
.
.
(on the patella:)
rahul : look raphael, a bone in the shape of play-doh.
.
.

skull+william. skull+rahul.a la hamlet. a la hamlet 2. photographing. photographing again.raphael the caveman.rahul+skull+raphael latching skull. lucy assembled.

ahh, these boys...won't be seeing rahul and raphael for quite a while.. so i guess today was some form of a goodbye as well.

rj wouldn't have been the same without these guys... not the same at all...

the sleazy sink in coco latte

me and rahul!

sarah.me.kuan pin trying to touch me...

at coco latte for rahul's sendoff
i'm terribly sorry for the timing error sarah, but not for the wink!!

pleasures

not more than 2 weeks after the massive bruise on my knee had completely vanished, i suffered another contusion on my elbow last night.. sigh.. while trying to wrestle lester into his condo pool, sarah pulled a muscle while i got shoved against his concrete wall (the kind with tiny spokes sticking out)... damn you lester, i will bring you into that pool one day if i have to drag you in with me...

but other than that, tennis last night was really fun! and i dunch care! i wanna play sommore! so, pool-grudge aside, lester, you're the best and you're great and you should ask me along for tennis when you're going to play again!!!

i'm burning.. or at least i feel like i am, but i don't seem to have a temperature. plus i'm constantly getting up early in the mornings cos it's too hot in my bed, even though the air conditioning's set to 22 deg... i think i somehow flicked on the 'ultra-high-metabolic-rate' switch at the back of my head. plus i'm developing quite an appetite..hmmmm... hey pancake, doesn't this sound uncannily familiar? i say, chocolate cakes.. beware...

i love these long holidays, but at the same time, it feels like medicine is slowly seeping out of my brain as well.. i think by the time term starts again, all my medicine knowledge would have dissipated and i would need another 2 months to get it all back in. unless of course i start reading ganong, which i brought back with me.. oooo...but that's too arduous. i think i'll stick to bumming... plus the fact that any semblance of mugging reminds me too much of glasgow and i must say, the experience is still a little too raw for me...

'the black haired girl #3'

shiny black panther: okay. this is how it goes.... recently, there has been a yellow monster in the middle of AFland who hordes the little AF factories and prevents manufactured clothes from getting to the needy masses...

lbhg: what kind of clothes does AF have?

shiny black panther whips out a black pda with a luminous lcd screen. pressing a few buttons (with claws, not stylus - no opposable thumbs), he flashes the screen to lbhg.

shiny black panther: this is what we're talking about:

the lbhg stares in awe and esteem. for 5 seconds, she seems lost in her own fantasy world...

regaining her composure, she looks the shiny black panther square in his eyes and says:

lbhg : just tell me what i have to do.

shiny black panther : not you girl, but we....

the next day, the dynamic duo approach the yellow monster's dwelling... as they encroach on the yellow den, a thick miasma overcomes them and a low guttural roar is heard...

lbhg: are you sure we can do this???

shiny black panther: you can count on me...

as they creep forward stealthily, the yellow monster comes into view.

lbhg: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the lbhg's shrieks alert the yellow monster,

but shiny black panther wastes no time in subdueing the yellow monster in one powerful swipe!

once again, peace was restored to AFland and the lbhg was one step closer to her destiny...

love song for my Saviour

save me

...you see just who i am.. just take my hand and..
save me from this place
heaven knows i'm falling
for you, my sweet embrace
heaven knows
heaven knows i've been waiting for you

...out of nowhere you came and rescued me
there must be some grace in the touch of your face...i'm no longer afraid

-corrinne may

"They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, 'A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!'"... - Judges 7:19-20

you give me freedom, you give me beautiful grace...
you make all the broken pieces fall into place.. beautiful healer.
your beautiful rhema word that speaks into my soul and my soul rejoices and i am fed and i am whole and oh, so in love...

safe in a crazy world

woke up today to a phonecall from an unidentified no... i've been putting my phone on 'freaking-loud-brrrRRinging-with-ultra-high-frequency-vibrration-mode' so i can wake up when schools call me for relief teaching. still drowsy, i couldn't quite hear where the lady on the other line was saying she was from cos my ears were still asleep.. finally got through to me that she was from a florist and i was getting flowers!!!!!!!

so i went to the gate to receive the apologetic florist (for getting lost) who handed me a bouquet! with my very own message, just for MEeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *beam* thankew my darling babeeee!!*muacks* you're the best, pancake! always know how to make me smile. so you'll be happy to know i had an extra toothy one today! *grin*

at 3, i went down to the spa for a full body massage. totally needed one after that one night of badminton. (i'm rusty, i know) so my mommy helped make the appointment for me and requested for a hard one... so i was very pleased to lift my head up of the massage chair to see a good, strong, big chinese woman enter the room. man, this woman was strong.. wasn't the kind of massage to leave you salivating and drifting off into sleep cos it was even painful at times, but really good for all those sore muscles. but with all these deep-technique-massages always comes the risk of bodily damage... when she was bearing down on my lumbar spine with all her upper body weight, i was thinking to myself... man, she could snap my spine and i could die in a massage chair wearing nothing but my undies. how unglamarous would that be? but hey, i've lived to tell the tale! so here's a caution to all those tai tai-wannabe's like myself who go for regular massages... make sure you tell her to stop when the pain goes beyond muscular and don't go on a full stomach.. also, when she's doing that back-slapping-knocking-the-wind-out-of-you thing, exhale slowly and continuously. yup yup.. see? being a tai tai ain't all that easy...

then i finished off my book 'paradise' in town before meeting mommy for dinner at esplanade. can't remember the name of the restaurant, but it's one of those fusion things.. had grilled lamb, which was surprisingly good... mmmmmmmmmm... then we rushed off for corrinne may's concert!! for all of you who don't know about her, check her out at www.corrinnemay.com... listen to her. she's got a unique voice and her band's pretty amazing. was really an enjoyable concert.. had me tapping my heels and bobbing my head.. hee.. girls, she's from rgs! woo hoo!!! but she was a prefect!!! boooooooo.... my favourites from her were 'mr beaseley', 'same side of the moon', 'something about you',which has a really catchy chorus, and 'free'. 'free' is from her 2nd album! go get it cos it's out in stores now!

malacca 2005

selamat jalan ke malacca!
(ok someone kill me if i mistook welcome for goodbye... and is it my imagination or is 'ke' = to?)

anyhow, i just got back from malacca!!! woo hoo!! i know i was kinda grumbling about having to accompany my family and extended family to malacca to most of you guys (since we've been there every year and stayed in the same hotel every time....) but what i took for bad, God turned into good!! praise Him, He's just been blessing me abundantly in soo many ways, it's great to be so loved!!

malacca was amaaazing this time round.. i've probably been there every year for the past few years with my family, but i've never appreciated it this much before..i don't know why.. maybe it's cause we actually had a malaysian tour guide to take us round! and the fact that i got to share a room with my cousin. anyways, here are the highlights of my trip!!

lots of cheap good eats: biscuits, fruits, peranakan food, and ikan bakar! (bbq fish) that bing3 that is at the top left hand corner is apparently only made once a year, in line with the mooncake fest. oh oh! and check out the size of those pao's! they're freakin massive!!

dragonfruit!! Posted by Picasa

oh! and i found my new fravrite fruit!!!DRAGONFRUIT!! it's totally amazing... and it's PEEEEEENK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! apparently, they're starting out new plantations for it in malasia.. it's supposed to be really high in fibre, etc etc etc.. there are two kinds.. the one with the white meat (long2 zhu1 guo3) and the one with the red meat (long2 huo2 guo3).. lhg is slightly tastier and they can also be differentiated from their skins! hahahah..the red one is my new fravrite fruit everyone!! they even made it into a drink! and it comes in this ultra cute pink bottle... i finished a WHOLE fruit (~300g!!!) last night all on my own and my fingers were stained red in the process! (literally caught red handed.)

also, malacca was also the venue for the annual competition, the ultimate clash of the titans :

carol

special powers:

bottomless stomach+insatiable appetite

VS

da bao

saucy meaty chunks wrapped in a thick steamed bun (w egg)

and the winner this year is........*drumroll* da bao...... because i couldn't finish half of the da bao and had to tag team with mom....

:( there's always next year!!

'the black haired girl #2'

yawning her first yawn in a decade and stretching her first stretch, the little black haired girl decided to make her way out of her room to explore the outside world.

but then.. the lbhg faced the problem that all youths faced before venturing into the outside world... the eternal question of :
what to wear???

the lbhg, who hardly needed any new clothes before, was discouraged and disheartened by the dearth of good clothes in her wardrobe... she let out the saddest pout she could muster and just sat in a corner all forlorn.

before she could even blink, she heard a voice say, "don't be sad, little black haired girl, i will help you."

she spun round, saying, "how do you know my name?"

"but why i didn't know that was your name, i just called you that based on my astute observational skills."

"well... then you must be shiny black panther?"

shiny black panther: well then, why not? shiny black panther it is.. well, little black haired girl? can i call you l.b.h.g. for short? well, what if i told you, i know where u can find nice clean new clothes?

lbhg: why where? tell me please!

shiny black panther: of course of course.. but first, don't you wanna know where i came from?

lbhg: not really...

shiny black panther: aren't you even surprised that i can talk? i'm a panther, mind you?

lbhg: no you're not a real panther, silly, you're a furry toy! (giggles)

shiny black panther: a toy??? a TOY? HAAAARUUUMPPH! you don't look very life-like yourself, if i might say so myself!

lbhg: okay, i'm sorry, i won't call you a toy anymore. just tell me where i can find clothes..

shiny black panther: then follow me....

~*~*~*~*~the adventure continues... stay tuned....

the good ol glory days

met up with old friend sarah that day for bible study. we go waaaaaaaay back.. we're ... domestic. in fact, sarah, you're the only friend i've ever gone overseas with. :) what else did we do together? bathe together, sleep together, play doubles together, cry together etc etc... she was from rgs badminton, together with ivanna! woo hoo.. we were the terrors of the team eh? together with nadirah.. (where is that girl nowadays anyway?) ahhh. the good old glory days..

speaking of which, i just got back from badminton.. yes.. at 230am in the morning.. eric chooses the most absurd times for sports... was kinda last minute thing. started at 11pm.. and i was told it was at queen astrid park, so i just assumed it was the condos there. but silly me.. it wasn't in the condominium, it was in a house.. one with an underground badminton-come-basketball court, a 30m lap pool, 5 living rooms, a mini-theatre, 2 kitchens, a coy pond with 100 coy fish, another pond with no fish, 3 studies and 3 bedrooms. turns out it's one of my primary school classmates. we took a house tour at the end of badminton and i swear, it took us 20 minutes... damn! if i had known he was this rich, i'd have talked to him more.. (just kidding!)

well, was quite an interesting night. played doubles matches and i absolutely hate doubles! eeyurk.i'm a singles player! but it was fun anyway. surprisingly, i still have my skills! yipppee! plus, i was the only one who didn't have to take a waterbreak! and i was the only gurl! heh heh heh.. but no.. badminton's so passe.. it's time for tennis!

there's no point in me sleepin tonight cos we're leaving at 5am sharp tmrw morning for malacca.. might as well just pull an all-nighter blogging! heee... okok.. so expect some really warped blogs from my past-bedtime psyche...

Posted by Picasathis is what i had for lunch with mommy today! was pretty yummy! haha.. my mom asked if the brinjal was fish and if the rice was rice. had it at the japanese shop at taka b1. were supp to go to crystal jade, but both ones had such long queues and i was starvin by then so i couldn't be bothered waiting.

went to buy lipgloss today! i was running low... this is wat i bought!

they're the absolute best! okok.. i'm getting bored of this post.. time to start a new one.. uh oh.. the post-bedtime carol is starting to kick in... woohoo!! i can do a cartwheel but i'm not gonna do it cos i just had a celery cream puff with soya bean. hmmm wonder if aaron's done his bungee jump... *thinking, thinking, thinking*
the end!

mommy dearest

went out with my mommy today for a bit. not hung out with her for a loooong time. hee... for those of you who don't know my mom, she's the Blur Queen. i have no idea how my dad could have put up with her idiosyncrasies and ignorances for all these years... it's sooo bad.. i could ask her to take a photo for me, position the camera such that i've centralised the shot and all she has to do is look at it, keep the camera still, wait for me to stand in position and press the button... but she couldn't even do that.. not once, no, but twice in a row. like this photo for example...(this was the 2nd attempt)

that's my mom for you.
and that time when the girlies came to sleep over, we asked her to help us take a photo... this is what she took:

even after i told her not miss out the words on the table...
mom:what words?
this was what was on the table..

and let's not forget the time she lost me in ikea and she had to use her handphone to call me.. yeah. she had to ask the ikea salesman to unlock her phone for her.. oh oh.. and the countless number of times we went swimming in the evenings and she'd start talking non-stop to some stranger standing next to her in the pool, thinking it was me.. even when the person was a guy. and the fact that she's been pronouncing 'film' as 'flim' and 'confiscate' as 'confisicate' for the past 21 years i've known her, despite the fact that i always correct her..

and she allllwaaaays never fails to say the silliest things.. like today in the car while i was driving us home.. i was wearing a white collared short sleeve shirt with a vest over it.

me: whaaaa... i'm damn hot!
mom: here, here, i give you all my aircon.. (turns the aircon towards me) who ask you go and wear so many layers? singapore is so hot, the girls all wear g-strings. ...

or over dinner,

mom: who you going to play badminton with?
me: some old friends. (i had said this at least 3 times already.)
mom: where?
me: queen astrid park
mom: with who?
me:...
mom: but you don't know how to play badminton! .....-3 secs-....oh
(i've been in national training since i was 11)

and how she always nags at me...

MAAY LING! (note the emphasis on the 'mei'.. that is for getting my attention.) no no! don't take the car! i don't allow you to drive my car!

or when she tries to cajole me...

MEI LEEEEENG... (this time the emphasis on the 'ling'. it's supposed to sound more endearing.) why you always going out? stay at home la you...why you never spend time with your familee?
yup yup.. that's my mom for you.
haha.. but i still love her very very much.. heh. but honestly.. sometimes i don't know whether to laugh or to cry... i'm so glad blurness isn't hereditary.. or is it?

Friday, August 5

'the black haired girl.'

once upon a time, there was a little girl who had black hair. she was a very very lazy girl. all she did all day was eat, sleep and blow her nose. she did not even bathe every day like normal children did.

Posted by Picasa Posted by Picasa
